Location and Map

Apple Trees Bed and Breakfast extends to 2 acres of gardens and grassland, overlooking the gentle hills and woods of Kentish countryside. Directly opposite is Hempsted Forest, managed by the Forestry Commission, 1,000 acres where can wander at will and find some magical pieces of ancient woodland.

The house is 3.5 miles from the town of Cranbrook, 6 miles from the town of Tenterden; Headcorn and Staplehurst Railway Station, and easy way to get to London and Ashford International. Benenden is centrally located 15 miles from Royal Tunbridge Wells to the West; Ashford to the East; Maidstone to the North and Hastings to the South.


Directions from London

Get onto the M25 came off at Junction 5 . Not the first turning on the left but the second 200 yards on signposted Hastings A21. Carry on dual carriageway onto single road and then on to roundabout straight over onto dual carriageway, again to roundabout then straight over. Carry on for about 3 miles, turn left at roundabout signposted A262 Ashford through Goudhurst.

Then about 3 miles to large roundabout take second left, one mile to Sissinghurst. Go part of way through village turn right ( chapel lane ) opposite the pub called The Bull. Carry on about three quarters of a mile to crossroads, straight over and down hill up past Cranbrook golf club on the left. Long straight 2 bends, the road goes uphill and turn left Goddard's Green Road, rhododendrons on left before turning. Turn into road, 1 mile down sign on the right Apple Trees Bed and Breakfast.


Direction from Brighton

Take the road to Lewes through the tunnel up hill for three quarters of a mile of a mile, take turning on the right to Heathfield B2192. Carry on follow the signs to Heathfield, through Heathfield, Broad Aok and Burwash, Etchingham and up to Hurst Green, turn left. Then 1/3 mile right to Hawkhurst up to the traffic lights and straight over.

Carry on downhill then up for approximately 2 miles then down again. Around right hand corner 75 yards on turn right into Swattenden Lane, B2086 to Benenden approximately 3 miles. As you come into the village there is a crossroads, turn left downhill up to other side three quarters of a mile at the top of the hill turn right signposted Goddards Green Road, Benenden Hospital. 1 mile down road on the right Apple Trees Bed and Breakfast.

By Trains

There are trains from Charing Cross to Staplehurst or Headcorn, which is only 8 miles from Apple Trees Bed and Breakfast. You can take a taxi from there. We advise you book your taxi in advance, because it's difficult to get one during peak season. Alternatively, arrangement can be made to collect and return to the Station.
